  • Girls Can Take Advantage of Fringe Sports to go to College For Free

The debate continues to rage over Title IX. Many have called the passing of Title IX one of the greatest reversed discrimination laws in America, while advocates of Title IX continue to claim that it has leveled the playing field for collegiate sports. Title IX, simply put, is a law that requires universities to have the same number of women’s athletic sports as men’s athletic sports. This limitation also applies to college scholarships. For male programs that give out large numbers of scholarship, like football, there has to be an equal number of scholarships given out to women. If the school doesn’t give out the female scholarships, then they will lose the male sports scholarship.

Opponents of Title IX see this as unfair. Statistically more men play sports than women. Likewise, before the passage of Title IX, there were far more male sports and male sports scholarships. Now with the rules about equal scholarships, fringe male sports are lacking the scholarships to attract athletes to the schools. The money making sports such as basketball and football have been basically unaffected by the change, but since schools must match scholarship for scholarship with women’s sports they can’t afford to give fringe men’s sports the scholarships. Supporters of Title IX say that those scholarships should have always been going to women to begin with, and if women had the opportunity to play collegiate athletics then more women would play sports.

Title IX whether right or wrong is an excellent opportunity for women to go to college for free. Many high level universities have struggled with the Title IX requirements, with finding enough women to play sports. Some have even gone as far as to advertise that they need women for different teams, and they will get full ride scholarships for playing on the sports team. The schools weren’t even looking for girls that could actually play the sport; they just needed warm bodies to fill out the roster.

If you are a girl in high school that is looking for a way to pay for college, consider learning a sport. While basketball, volleyball, soccer and softball are popular, they are also the best recruited of the female sports. There are limits to how many scholarships that each of the women’s sports can give out each year. It is a principle of supply and demand. There are few scholarships for many girls in the popular sports. Yet, there are lots of scholarships in the fringe female sports. Sports like golf, tennis, archery, track and field, cross country and many others. Find a sport that interests you, and then excel at it. The better you are the more that top schools will be looking to fill their teams with winners.

The best way to excel is to get in top physical conditioning. Even in the popular women’s sports, female athletes have yet to take full advantage of sports based training. The better conditioning you have the better you will be at a sport. Plus, there are the added benefits of having a better physical appearance. Training and adding healthy supplements like whey protein to a good diet will help to build lean muscle, which is important for better muscle memory. It also helps you to lose excess weight which will slow you down in any sport that you try to compete in.

Scholarships for girls are sitting their unclaimed right now. Learning a sport, training, and excelling will bring opportunities to get an education.

  • What advantage tourists can take from world economic depression?

What advantage tourists can take from world economic depression?

In connection with financial crisis demand for tourist services has sharply decreased. All know when demand for services falls they become cheaper.

In the countries where tourism makes essential impact on formation of the budget of the state, the prices on entertainments are deflated and the cost of hotel rooms has decreased. So probably in spring, many trips will be much cheaper. And in the summer, experts predict the boom in the low cost travel offers.

    Crisis and political instability

The economic crisis almost never comes one, financial instability at times generates the political. For example, already now many refuse to go to Israel even for half of former cost. Moreover 40 percent from those who has already paid for tours, have refused services of tour agencies. Most likely, travel to Israel on the near future will be included into sector of extreme tourism. But, unlike specially organised extreme, it will cost in times more cheaply.

Thailand still cannot recover from mass disorders with blocking of the airports. More then one million of tourists have refused from trips to this country. Now the voucher can be acquired almost for nothing, though holiday in Thailand was never comparable to budget travels in Egypt and Turkey.

    Budget travel are even cheaper

The prices are also actively reduced for popular tours. A trip to Egypt or Turkey you can buy today with a discount of 40%.

Many companies could not curtail charter programs into the shortest terms or reduce their quantity in connection with falling demand. To ensure that aircraft do not fly empty, operators began to sell cheap tickets to their trips.

Many airlines reduce fuel taxes. The prices for aeroplane tickets have fallen by an average of 50-60 dollars on round-trip ticket because of reduction of the fuel price.

In European hotels have been reduced the prices of rooms. The most unlucky are owners of hotels in Paris. The average load of hotels here is reduced by 10%. At the same time average cost of hotel accommodation also have been reduced by 10%.

In the summer the situation will be levelled, and the trips will be cheaper as far as will be cheaper hotels and flights.

Let’s believe in the best, should be though any advantage of this crisis. We wish to everyone to gain as much as possible benefits from it. Pleasant rest!

  • Take the Pain Out of Change

“Action and reaction, ebb and flow, trial and error, change – this is the rhythm of living. Out of our overconfidence, fear; out of our fear, clearer vision, fresh hope. And out of hope progress,”

This statement, while definitely profound, also captures the very essence of the process of change with its uncertainty, fear, trepidation, hope and the eventual progress. Those in the throes of change may view it differently, from the visionaries that spearhead the process, to those who naturally resist any type of change.

Organizations that are implementing change may find that the comfort level of some individuals within will be compromised, bringing about possible resistance. If not understood and carefully dealt with, the resistance may cause a fair amount of tension and conflict, therefore undermining any positive outcome.

Our purposes and production in life revolve around three major needs: to be respected, to be viewed as competent, and to belong. These needs are the motivators which affect our decision to either accept or resist change. The decision to embrace the change is then made through examining facts, looking at our belief system, and deciding how we feel about the change.

This thinking process involving facts, beliefs and values, helps us evaluate what is important. Ask two people about their perception of an incident and you may get two different points of view.  Facts can be distorted because we act on the perception of reality rather than on reality itself. Holding to the perception that our beliefs are indeed facts will make it difficult for us to see the issue in a true light. While beliefs are subjective and cannot be proven, facts are objective and can be proven.

While both facts and beliefs are important in decision making, it is our values that have the final say and will ultimately affect our choice. Values, therefore, guide our decisions and set the parameters for our life. In his book, Making Change Possible, Ken Hultman quotes Dr. Morris Massey as saying that about ninety percent of our values are programmed from our surroundings by the time we reach the age of ten. It is no wonder that our values are well ingrained by the time we reach adulthood.

When we are faced with the prospect of change, there are factors that can help lessen our resistance to it. First, we need to examine our needs and ask, “What effect will this process of change have on me personally? Will it help my self-esteem and improve my relationships with others? Will it help me move forward personally and/or professionally?” Remember, the bottom line for all of us is, “How will this change affect me?” Our basic human need is to feel a sense of worth. We will resist any changes that contradict our values, because these values are deeply rooted beliefs that affect the direction of our life.

After we have considered our needs, the thinking process begins. Based on the facts surrounding  the  impending change, we think, “Has it worked elsewhere and improved other situations? Will it work in my situation?”

Feelings  are  also  an important   part   of   the  change process and  act  as the gatekeeper through  which  our  thoughts  must  pass  before action  is  taken. After determining how much our values and needs have been met, we are now ready to make a decision. The success  of   the  decision  will  depend  largely  on  whether  our  needs  have  been  met satisfactorily.

There are other reasons why we resist change. We may feel that there is no need for the change, that it is too risky, or that the process is being handled poorly, and so we have no confidence in it. There may also be a lack of trust in the process itself, especially if the change goes against our values. Therefore, it is important that trust in the process be established first, before any change can be accepted.

In a business setting, if the vision that is directing the change is made clear and all concerned are actively participating in the process, then even the more reluctant individuals will be encouraged to get on board. This will then be the momentum needed to carry the change process through to completion, ultimately creating a feeling of camaraderie and purpose.

After our values and needs have been satisfied, adding one more element to the mix could solidify our acceptance of change. That element is humour. Change has the ability to create stress and conflict. Conversely, shared humour among employees has the ability to create camaraderie, build team-spirit, while improving mental flexibility. The leader with a humorous outlook who promotes a “light” atmosphere in the workplace will find it easier to implement change than will an authoritarian leader. Humour helps us look at issues from a different perspective and opens our minds to new ways of doing things.

The CEO of a computer company saw the need to introduce a new computer operating system in his company. He was aware that the change could cause stress and resistance among the employees. So to help ease the resistance, he decided to have a contest. The employees were asked to post humorous computer cartoons on bulletin boards. He offered prizes for the best cartoons, and it wasn’t long before the bulletin boards were filled. He then chose some of the more humorous and easy-going people in the company to train their fellow employees in the new system. At the end of the training period a barbecue was held to celebrate their accomplishment, and with it the promised prizes. These activities, seasoned with generous amounts of humour, helped make the company’s adjustment to change a qualified success.

In conclusion, the motivation for accepting or resisting change involves facts, beliefs, values, and our entire thinking process. Most importantly, however, if the transition to change is to be successful, consideration must be made to meeting our individual needs. Helping ourselves and others adapt to change can be a challenge, but by everyone participating in the process and all “lightening up,” change will be more easily accepted even as we embrace the inevitable.
